Peewee A Wins Silver in Lake Placid!
The NobleKing
Peewee A team finished first overall and were undefeated in 4 round
robin games against teams from Uxbridge, Oakville, Northern Virginia
and Rhode Island to make it to the Gold Medal Game on Sunday,
October 21st at the Lake Placid Challenge Cup. Playing the only
team they tied in the round robin series, the Oakville Rangers, the
Knights scored in the third period to force the Gold Medal game into
overtime. Unfortunately, the Knights were beat in the opening 2
minutes of 4 on 4 on the big Olympic ice, giving them the Silver
Medal for the Oslo Peewee Division.
The
team also competed in the Team Relay and won their division thanks
to the speed of Blake Anderson, Brady VanMoorlehem, Lucas Pecchia
and the anchor, Domenico Garieri. Carver Delmas and goalie Jake
Bernhardt also represented the Knights in the Shootout with Carver
just missing 1st place by one goal and Jake saving his
way to an impressive 3rd place finish.

Congratulations
to the entire team for taking home the Silver Medal in true Olympic

Thursday March 29th, 2012 - The much anticipated series between the Nobleking Knights Peewee #1 and Peewee #3 teams ended in an exciting and exhausting Game 5. Peewee #3 started strong taking the first two games of the series. Down 2 games but not to be beaten, Peewee 1 came back with a ‘never-say-die’ attitude. Five minutes into overtime and still tied at 0, Peewee 1 drove down the ice and our Captain, Marco, buried a rebound to win the game. Special thanks to our amazing coaching staff, Brian Cooney (head coach), Rob De Cassan (assistant coach), Val Oppedisano (trainer), Rose Kimber (manager) and Todd English. NobleKing’s Bantam 1 Local League
team
spent the weekend of January 7th and 8th in Stayner,
competing in the Stayner Cyclone Bantam Local League
Tournament. The Knights defeated the Bradford Bulldogs
3-1 in their first game, in a hard fought battle. Bantam
1 then lost 5-2 to the Oro Thunder, suffering a late
breakdown after leading for much of the game. The
Knights need to win their third game in order to advance
to Sunday play. Their third opponent was Saugeen Shores,
and the Knights found themselves trailing 2-0 mid-way
through the second period. However, the Knights came
thundering back to win 5-2, and to advance to the
semi-finals on Sunday. NobleKing met the Bradford
Bulldogs for the second time in their semi-final game.
All of the scoring in this game happened in the first
period, with the Knights hanging onto a 2-1 lead for the
remainder of play, and earning the right to compete for
the championship. In their fifth and final game, the
Knights met the Thornton Tigers. NobleKing gave up a
goal in the first period, but then scored a pair in the
second, leading to a frantic final frame. The Knights
added one more mid-way through the third, and then
survived a six on four power play to end the game.
NobleKing had clinched the Championship with a thrilling
3-1 come from behind win against Thornton.
The Knights played well throughout
the tournament, with the entire roster contributing to
the win. The team is now looking forward to their next
tournament (in Rice Lake) and the Local League playoffs.
- Volunteers from Each Team NeededNow that the season is under way, the
Executive would like to take this opportunity to thank
you, for volunteering your time to help our kids enjoy
another great hockey season. If not for your hard work
and dedication, there would be no Minor League Hockey...
so Thank You!!!
The Executive is proud to say that
for the last 5 years there has been no increase in
registration fees despite the increased cost of ice
rentals, jerseys and equipment, and the addition of the
HST. This is in part due to having great sponsorship
from members, and fundraising events such as the
NobleKing Tournament and our annual raffle. This year we
are not holding our annual raffle, but in its place we
are planning to hold a series of 3 separate Texas
Hold`em Poker events. Our association has 22 teams;
therefore we may require 3 events. The idea is to raise
money at an event that can also promote a social
gathering of all the members. Nobleton and
Now that you know why we are doing
this event... here is where we need your help!!!
1) Each team must appoint 1 Poker
Contact and 1 volunteer contact.
2) The Executive will book the
facility, cater food, get licenses, organize poker, and
oversee all aspects for each event.
3) Teams will be responsible to sell
tickets to one of the three events, help at that event,
and help collect silent auction prizes.
4) Event dates are to be announced
with one held in January, one held in February, and
possibly one held in March.
We know that you are already so
heavily involved with your team and your everyday life,
that this request may be a bit overwhelming. However,
these events are to help promote additional parental
involvement who would otherwise not participate directly
with the teams.
Further information will follow in
the coming weeks but in the meantime please feel free to
contact Danny Macedo or any members of the executive with
questions or for further information.
Jan. 20 Poker Night has been postponed. All tickets will
be honoured on Feb. 24 or Mar. 24 nights.

Click here for a brochure from Lise Filion about this servicePlease see the article below. NobleKing Hockey
will still have body checking in
its Local League Program.
Richmond Hill, ON: - The Ontario Hockey Federation`s
[OHF] Minor Council met on Friday April 29th to discuss
the minor programs and among the topics was body
checking in recreational hockey.
The OHF Minor Council endorsed the following motion:
Effective the 2011 - 2012 season body checking will be
removed from all age divisions of House League and House
League Select hockey.
The OMHA wishes to clarify that the OHF ruling does not
affect Local League hockey within the OMHA. The ruling
applies to House League and Rostered Select only and
will not impact current regulations for Local League.
Local League programs can continue as in the past, and
the decision to include body checking in Local League
programming remains that of the local membership of your
association.
The OMHA seeks to provide programming to achieve
objectives consistent with Hockey Canada's Long Term
Player Development [LTPD] model, and provide players
with opportunities within the recreational stream of
hockey best suited to their development. With this in
mind, the OMHA will endeavour, through consultation with
all stakeholders, to provide opportunities to support
the player at each stage in their development.

NobleKing
Minor Hockey Association 2010/2011 Rep Tryout Process
OMHA Regulations for A Centres
1)
Per the OMHA regulations (2.3 d) a Centre must enter a
major representative team in any age group before it can
enter a minor representative team in the same age group.
2)
For “A” Centres, once a major team is rostered, either a
minor A team or on an exception basis a Major
Alternate
Entry (AE)**
team can be rostered if approved by the OMHA.
These regulations give NobleKing flexibility at Atom
thru Midget when it comes to our rep program.
If there are not enough kids to field a team at
the minor level, there is the opportunity to field a
Major
AE**
team. This
Major
AE**
team could include minor and major aged players but the
AE**
team must be requested from and approved by the OMHA.
It is important to note that per the above
regulations a Major rep team needs to be rostered prior
to a
Minor
or AE**
team can be rostered.
Implications for Tryouts
All players should try out for the team at their age
(minor or major).
Minor players may try out for both teams.
The
Major
A team will select their team first and players will
sign commitment forms.
Commitment letters will be due back to the
association OMHA Rep by May 31, 2010.
Minor players that try out for the major team may be
selected to play for the major A team. Minor players
will not be forced to play for the major A team if they
do not wish to play for that team UNLESS such choice
makes forming a major team impossible (due to numbers).
The minor team will be put together based on the players
that come to tryouts.
If there is not enough interest to form a team at
the minor level, the association will look at combining
the remaining major players and the minor players to
form a Major AE**
team. The coach
that is selected for the minor team will be given first
right of refusal to coach the
Major
AE**
team. If he
refuses, there
will be another coach selection process for the Major AE**
team. The
Association through the OMHA Representative will
complete the necessary documents to apply for approval
of an AE**
team before the June 1 deadline.
In order to ensure NobleKing can maximize the ability to
form rep teams at both the major and minor levels, any
disputes regarding the age group a player will be
rostered to will be resolved by a committee that
includes:
The coaches of both teams
The association Head Coach
The OMHA Representative
The Vice President
In the case of a conflict of interest with any of the
executive members above, another executive member
assigned by the President will sit on the committee.
The date for jersey returns is Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the Nobleton Arena with the times set out for each team in the schedule below. This year we are returning the WHITE jersey.
1. Jerseys should all be returned at the same time according to your assigned time below. A $50 charge will be added to the cost of registration next season if the jersey is not returned.
2. All jerseys must be laundered and ideally returned on a hangar.
3. Name bars are to be removed and kept for next season by each player.
4. C’s and A’s are to be carefully removed from the jerseys.
5. Sponsor bars are to be removed and returned separately along with the jerseys.

It is extremely important that the membership provide feedback to the Association and their Head Coach each season. To this end, we have a simple online survey for you to complete. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey before the Annual General Meeting on Feb. 25. Link below and on Surveys page

85 Members attended the AGM on 25 Feb 2010. The presentation used at the meeting is available on the About page and the new executive is also listed there.

All rostered players and staff will receive an envelope with the information you need to prepare for the upcoming Annual General Meeting, Thursday, 25 February, 7:00 p.m., Nobleton Arena Auditorium. While members of the general public are welcome to attend, they will have no standing to make presentations to the room, present motions or vote on items. All current NobleKing members are listed on the sign in sheet that will be at the door and you are required to sign in as you enter so that we can properly record attendance and votes as needed.
CLARIFICATION: At
last year’s NobleKing Annual General Meeting, we
approved the incorporation of the organization as a
not-for-profit entity.
While that has been completed, we are still
working on the final version of a new constitution for
the newly incorporated organization.
In advance of receiving a draft of this new
document, proxy requests were sent to all members with
the assumption that they were needed.
It turns out that proxies are not required as
both the current and new, draft constitution require
members to be in attendance at the meeting to cast
votes. All members are encouraged to attend the AGM next
Thursday, 7 p.m. in Nobleton.
The Executive apologizes for any confusion this
may have caused.

Your team manager will also have the latest and greatest information.

There is a meeting on Monday in King City at the Council Chambers where among other things the proposed fees for our minor hockey ice contract will be discussed. Please note that the proposed increase AND the upcoming HST will have a very significant cost impact on all members. It is also apparent that Schomberg Minor Hockey has a smaller proposed increase to their ice rates for next season and their hourly rate remains well below what is charged in King City and Nobleton. It is time that Council helps us understand why our ice costs are so high!
Come out to the King City, Nobleton, Schomberg and Oak Ridges arenas this weekend to enjoy tournament action. Full details and schedules on Tournaments page.

Your Head Coach and Manager have received the schedule for the upcoming team and individual photo sessions scheduled for Jan. 7 and Jan. 8, Nobleton Arena. Please click here if you wish to have a copy of the schedule. Please note that your team manager or coach will have the FINAL schedule for your team - check with them!

From time to time we will post open, shinny ice on the schedule. The format for this is very simple - registered NobleKing players can participate in full equipment for some non-contact pond hockey! Adult supervision is required however it is expected that our players will run the on ice activity themselves in these shinny sessions.
NobleKing Minor Hockey is happy to recommend Lise Fillion, DD, as a local business option for having a custom sport mouthguard made. Lise is located at the King City Denture Clinic, 12967 Keele Street, Unit 5, just south of King Road and a short walk from the King City Arena. Please see the attached for more information. Be sure to mention that you are a NobleKing player when you drop in or book your appointment at (416) 559-8500 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting (416) 559-8500 end_of_the_skype_highlighting. Remember, all players are required to wear a mouthguard whenever they are on the ice in the OMHA.

The Association is looking for an individual or small group who will quickly step in to fill a vacancy in the Fundraising portfolio. Fundraising activities help offset the costs of hockey for all players and are a very important revenue stream each season. With the Township already warning us to expect an increase in ice rental costs next year of GREATER THAN 10% we need all the help we can get from our fundraising efforts.
If you are interested, please email president@noblekinghockey.com
By early January, all members will receive by mail an invitation, voting proxy form, motion form, etc. for the upcoming Annual General Meeting. All members (parents of registered players, players, rostered staff) are invited and strongly encouraged to attend this very important meeting. All Executive positions will be up for election at this meeting as the Association puts in place a new management and Board of Directors structure to match our recent legal change to a 'not for profit corporation'. As a member, you are welcome to stand for election to any of the positions and to vote in person or by proxy on all motions put to the AGM. We will announce on this site when the mailing has gone out to all addresses found from the registration system. To attend this meeting you will be required to bring your Member's Invite.
If you are missing or need new player name bars this season (velcro attached to jerseys), please let your coach know asap. They will only be ordered once this season and the cost is $7.50 per bar ($15 for two). The bars are yours to keep.
All players are now assigned to their initial Local League teams (balancing moves are still possible). Parents and Players should look to BladeNet for practice and game times for their assigned team. All team names and head coach contact information can be found on the Teams tab.
Note that some game changes may still occur so check BladeNet weekly.

If you are a fully registered player and you have not yet been contacted by a coach to come to the pre-season evaluation skates, please go to the Teams page and email each of the coaches in your player division to find out when to be on the ice. After this weekend, the Convenors and Coaches will do the player drafts to set up the teams. Going forward, you can look at BladeNet to find your home ice times by team.
All coaches will receive a list of players who are permitted to skate on NobleKing ice. If your daughter/son is not on this list it means you have not properly completed your child's registration for hockey this season. If your child is not properly registered, they are not insured and therefore WILL NOT be permitted to participate in any practices or games. If you believe you have been left off of this list in error, email registrar@noblekinghockey.com immediately to get this corrected. Coaches will be contacting players to inform them of which times posted on BladeNet your player should attend in the next two weeks.
This year we are pleased to offer all registered NobleKing players some in-house hockey camp options. Click on the Hockey Camp link on the left to learn more!

inform you when training will take place.
We have an open Executive position that needs to be filled and are seeking a volunteer willing to fulfill the duties of Sponsorship Director. This role is important as sponsorship dollars collected offset the costs of hockey for all players in the Association. Duties include - soliciting team sponsorship, coordination of the ordering of sponsor bars for jerseys, coordination of the acknowledgement of sponsorship through our website and distribution of sponsor plaques at the end of the season. If you wish to volunteer for this position, please click here to email Mark Russell.
